The 9 Oddest Job Interview Questions at Tech Companies in 2011

How many times were you asked odd questions during the interview?
In hotel industry not a lot because it is not really technical but at Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon or any engineering companies you have a great chance to be asked odd questions depending on the job you are applying. The questions seem to be odd but still makes you think. It reminds me GMAT questions. Sometimes questions don't have any relevance to the company. Just have a look here for the questions asked in 2011.

I have been working for almost 12 years now. I went through several job interviews and I can tell you the questions are more or less the same. Most of the interviews were for the jobs in my native country (Uzbekistan). In France I had interviews only in hotels so far. Here again the questions are almost the same but depending on the hotel and the HR manager. Sometimes the questions are rhetorical. Unfortunately I haven't been asked any odd question so far.

Could you please share if you had been asked an odd question during an interview. Thank you very much.

Since December 7, 2011 there are TWO Mark Zukerbergs in the world. The first one, you know very well, the creater of Facebook  but a second one was "born" very recently. He is Israelian intrepreneur who legally took the name of the founder of Facebook. His real name was Rotem Guez.

Zukerberg ( Israeli intrepreneur) is a co-founder of a Like Store social marketing company. This company can help other companies who would like to have more Likes of their webpage. Zukerberg was rejected to create a profile on Facebook in January.

In September, Perkins Coie, Facebook's law firm warned to sue against Zukerberg claiming that the Like Store violated the Terms of Service of Facebook. It is after that the interpreneur decided to change his name.

Angry Birds Dress Makes Big Fashion Statement

If you have an iPod, an iPhone, an iPad or any android devise, it is difficult to believe that you didn't play Angry Birds.

Angry Birds became a fashionable game and now we can find anything from T-Shirt to accessories with the pictures of Angry Birds on them. But there is even more interesting than that.

Teija Vesterbacka, the wife of Peter, CMO of the company that created the game decided to come to an event on Tuesday night at the Finish Presidential Palace to celebrate Finland’s independence in her Angry Birds dress. The red dress features the iconic face of one of the Angry Birds characters.

Twitter users reacted immediately to this look:

Some called it “epic” while others were “disgusted.”

“Sooooo glad my husband didn’t create ‘Angry Birds.’

"Quelle horreur! This dress is a nightmare,”

However some understood the idea:

“Love this! Company pride!”

Many acclaimed that it was an excellent marketing strategy for the brand.

Key Figures about Angry Birds:
  • Angry Birds first debuted in December 2009.
  • Various versions of the game have been downloaded 500 million times.
  • Fans have played a whopping 266 billion levels, shot 400 billion birds and collected 44 billion stars.
  • This amounts to 300 million minutes played of the game each day and 109.5 billion minutes played each year.

What do you think of the dress? Will this make a splash in the fashion industry?

Personal evaluation of my Blog

ANALYTICAL & INSIGHTFUL

Dogital marketing is new for me. I never had a blog before? I even didn't have any clear idea about blogs.
I think I am doing quite well. I am not very good at analysing the articles but I am trying my best.
I post at least one article and a video per week. Try to comment the articles of others if it is interesting for me. I do my homework everyweek which helps me to better understand digital marketing and how it works.
In short, I am happy that I am discovering new things.

Foreigners, you won't have job in France!

"J'aime la France et je la quitte".

On this bitter fact that Salma returned to Morocco, her native country, only a few days ago. She is a graduate of Sciences Po and despite a promesse d'embauche (promise of employment) in a consulting firm in human resources, a young Moroccan, who was educated in French high school in Rabat, has not received permission to remain in France to stay work.

Since a circular of 31 May 2011, signed by the Ministers of Interior and Labour, it has become more difficult to find employees with non-EU foreigners, whether graduates or experienced. Since then foreign students have to think seriuosly about how they can convince La Prefecture de Police in order to change their status to work.

I am one of these students and I am concerned about this issue too. I will graduate in 2012 and I am going to try to change my status in order to be able to work full time. I have been working (part time)in a hotel since 2009 and I have CDI.

If I can't change my status what will happen?

This is THE question I have been asking myself since I'm in this school. If I have an International diploma and I can't use it in international level, why am I studying then?! Just to tell the world that I have payed 13000 euros to be sent to my country without any experience? My intention is not to stay in France eternally but to gain some experience in order to be able to contribute to the development of my country, Uzbekistan. If students are refused to work after their graduation what is the interest of welcoming them to study? By the way France has refused to give visas to 20 uzbek students who were accepted in different universities to study last year.

This issue is more serious than that. Enterprises are complaining as well that they are lacking foreign candidates.

"There is a structural deficit of engineers in France that requires us to recruit foreigners," says Jacques Adoue, human resources director of Capgemini in France, one hundred cases are currently blocked. "Moreover, what can you tell a manager who took time to train an intern for six months, who wants to hire him and, ultimately, can not?"

"We recruit every year about fifty young graduates, some Brazilian, Chinese or from the Middle East. These profiles are strategic to our business because they are the markets where we have the biggest growth prospects. Our turnover is already 90% out of France, "said Francis Wazières, international director of recruitment at L'Oréal.

Key Figures

France hosted 65,218 foreign students outside the European Union in 2010, 28.82% more than in 2009.
The nationalities most represented are: China (15.9% of admissions of students), Morocco (8.8%), the United States (8.6%) and Algeria (6%).
A study by the Ministry of Interior conducted between 2002 and 2009, seven years after their arrival in France, 60% of students have left the country.
The remaining 40% are still present, still 10% as students, 10% have changed their status to become employed and 20% have a residence permit for family reasons. A total of 285,000 foreign students (including EU) follow courses in France.
